Forklift Driver
Starting Pay: $20.09(experienced candidates may qualify for higher starting pay)
Shift: 2nd shift : 3p-11p overtime available
Mon-Friday every other Saturday
Level: Intermediate, min. 2 years\u2019 experience in a production setting
Work Environment: Onsite, non-climate-controlled
The opportunity:
Forklift Drivers play a critical role in our production process. They are responsible for moving materials and finished product within the plant and loading/unloading trailers. The job is fast-paced, requires attention to detail, and a relentless focus on safety. Opportunities to cross train on other similar machinery may be available.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
Primary job duties will include but are not limited to:
Follow all safety rules and procedures and actively participate in the plant\u2019s safety culture
Load/unload production machines, trailers, and hazmat materials utilizing Thors and onboard computers
Perform safety inspections for trailers, docks, and dock plates
Utilize proper PPE for forklift safety checks and changing propane tanks
Inspect pallets for excessive debris and structural issues
Alert Machine Operators to product quality issues
Maintain housekeeping and organization in the workspace
Perform various other duties as needed
What you need to succeed:
Minimum 2 years of forklift experience in a production setting
Knowledge of scanning systems
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English
Ability to read materials to understand and apply content, such as instruction manuals and procedure manuals.
Understanding of how to read shipping tags and shipping manifests
Able to read a tape measure and perform basic math
Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and other safety gear as required (We will provide any necessary PPE.)
Ability sit/drive continuously with occasional walking, kneeling, crouching, squatting, bending, climbing, and grasping.
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
Ability to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment (hot or cold)
Experience moving units without pallets preferred
