Job Opportunity At Pepper Construction
With offices in the Midwest, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. This position performs a wide variety of duties and tasks that often require assisting other tradespeople, including laborers and carpenters. Responsibilities include connecting columns, beams, and girders with bolts or welding them into place, reinforcing/tying rebar in concrete construction, unloading and stacking prefabricated steel, using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment to cut, bend, and weld steel, placing and setting heavy machinery, erecting and/or dismantling structural steel frames of structures, operating forklifts and other heavy equipment to lift steel columns, beams, and girders according to blueprints, working at heights and from aerial work platforms, and rigging structural-steel members to hoist cables using chains, cables, or rope. Qualifications include a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in commercial construction, proficiency in industry tools and equipment, such as hand and power tools and welding devices, OSHA 10 certification, operator's certificate, detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to multi-task, task-oriented, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines, self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, flexible availability, including some overtime, weekends, and night shifts, and able to lift at least 35 pounds, unassisted, and stand for extended periods.
