Overview
Patient Care Tech (PCT) - ICU stepdown/IMC (Full-Time/Days) Work location: Texas Health Flower Mound, 4400 Long Prairie Rd., Flower Mound, TX 75028 Responsibilities
Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff, including feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, and moving patients; may transfer or transport patients. Assist patients according to plan of care and collect patient data, identifying and reporting significant findings to the nurse. Assist in admission/transfer/discharge and adapt activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. Perform technical procedures safely and proficiently; take action to reduce or eliminate patient risk. Enter orders into computer or manual systems if applicable; document accurately and appropriately. Collaborate with nurses to adapt care to the patient population and incorporate cultural/religious needs and beliefs into care delivery. Maintain a clean, safe patient environment and anticipate patient, family, and visitor needs. Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required One year of PCT experience in an acute care setting is preferred PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or THR-approved program (not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire; required upon hire or as applicable) EMT - Emergency Medical Technician or military medical training equivalent (equivalent to EMT-B) upon hire or as applicable Other nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program upon hire or as applicable Other one year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification upon hire or as applicable BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Nursing students who have completed fundamentals and EMTs who do not formally retain EMT status may continue in the role if they have demonstrated skills in their PCT position Benefits
