Job Description
In this hybrid role, the product safety and regulatory engineer will be responsible for enforcing and maintaining safety and regulatory standards ensuring our thermal bar code printers and accessories meet existing, evolving, and emerging global regulatory requirements. The candidate will work directly with the senior product safety and regulatory engineer as well as safety and regulatory agencies to ensure agency approval.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
• Provide technical assistance to ensure agency requirements are addressed during the development cycle, production, and throughout the product lifecycle.
• Assist in the testing and validation of products to the applicable safety and regulatory requirement.
• Work directly with safety and regulatory testing and certifying agencies such as UL, TUV, CSA, CCC, and other international agencies to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with rest of development team to solve all safety and regulatory issues for new and existing products.
• Evaluate and interpret US, EU and other international regulations and standards to ensure compliance.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of test procedures and results, current certifications for each products, and related traceability documentation.
• Provide guidance to supply chain to ensure compliance of all parts and components.
• Support sales and marketing with documentation related to international certifications and importation
regulations.
• Travel to testing laboratories as necessary, about 10%.
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
Qualifications:
• 3 or more years of demonstrated regulatory safety experience in areas in engineering development programs.
• 3 or more years of experience in EMC design and compliance problem solving capabilities.
• Experience with PWB/PCB tools.
• Experience with standard Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
• Experience with spectrum analyzer, ESD testers, EMC chambers, and electrical safety analyzers.
• Accuracy, attention to detail and responsiveness to customers.
• Interfaces with outside suppliers for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
• Interfaces with third party agencies and testing laboratories.
• Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with cross functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.
• Ability to manage time and effort to meet project milestones.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience working with bar code printers
• Experience working with antennas and transmitters.
• Experience working with Environmental requirements such as Energy Star, RoHS, WEEE, REACH, etc..
• Experience quoting and maintaining a budget for certification costs.
• Knowledge of relevant FCC and EU standards and testing procedures.
