About the Role: The Safety Program Manager will oversee a comprehensive safety initiative by developing and implementing effective policies and procedures for MYR Group. The Sturgeon Electric Transmission and Distribution (T&D) construction division offers a wide array of services related to transmission, distribution, substation, and clean energy construction. The Safety Program Manager oversees the Safety teams across Utah, Oregon, and Alaska.

The ideal candidate should be based in Portland, OR, or Salt Lake City, UT. Relocation assistance may be available. This position requires up to 75% travel (approximately 3 weeks or 15 days per month) to fulfill job responsibilities, and the candidate must be able to drive and hold a valid driver's license. Essential Functions Manage and enhance the ongoing safety program. Foster a proactive safety culture in operations, procedures, communications, and personnel management. Engage in Client meetings, events, pre-bid discussions, pre-qualification processes, and incident reviews to support operations. Ensure appropriate safety staffing for construction projects and district locations. Coordinate cross-training and deliver training for Safety Managers and Engineers as necessary. Contribute to the development and presentation of comprehensive training on safety management and accident prevention programs. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, and best practices while eliminating unsafe practices. Assist in the investigations of accidents/incidents within the area of responsibility. Review and assist in the production of accident briefs, safety publications, bulletins, and reports, recommending preventive actions. Develop relationships with safety organizations, manufacturers, government agencies, and operating companies. Conduct inspections, surveys, and evaluations, both scheduled and unscheduled. Provide constructive feedback, professional development opportunities, and guidance to safety specialists and managers. Advise on improving the MYR accident prevention program, providing progress reports and maintaining safety records as required. Process all Incident/Accident Reports and hazard reports, ensuring timely updates to the VP of Safety to maintain accurate reporting records. Other duties as assigned, with a focus on regular attendance at designated company locations. Uphold the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, along with industry-specific conduct standards. About You: Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical transmission, distribution line construction or substation construction, either in an Electric Lineman or Safety role. Proven management experience in safety roles. Experience in Risk Management. Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field; relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Safety-related certifications such as OSHA 500s, OTI certifications, etc. Professional Certifications highly preferred (i.e., ASP, CSP, CUSP). Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Solid understanding of safety principles, regulations, and practices. Good knowledge of electric utility operations and construction principles. Working knowledge of industrial hygiene practices and regulations governing employee safety. Knowledge of hazardous materials and Workers Compensation practices, particularly in utility and construction contexts. Basic understanding of training principles and adult instruction. Proven capability to interpret and implement applicable Federal/State regulatory standards and conduct safety audits of job sites. Ability to develop and implement training programs. Skills to build and maintain collaborative working relationships. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with MS Office Suite and other related office technologies. Strong knowledge of MYR Group policies and procedures. Capability to mentor and provide feedback to direct reports.
