Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg, Tele, and PCU Float Pool position requiring strong telemetry skills and titration of drips.
Responsibilities Work in a hospital acute care setting, floating between MedSurg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Units across two campuses Patient populations include geriatric, orthopedic, post-MI, post-cardiac cath, and post-CABG patients Nurse to patient ratios: PCU 1:4; MedSurg/Tele 1:5-6 RNs are required to interpret EKG strips and titrate multiple drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high-flow oxygen therapy managed in appropriate units Uses Cerner EMR; prior experience preferred 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required Must work Christmas holiday as part of staff rotation No call or standby requirements Assignments are communicated 2 hours prior to shift start, and float coverage includes ED hold patients Professional solid color scrubs required, transitioning to navy scrubs per guideline Provide comprehensive nursing care for a diverse med/surg, tele, and stepdown patient population Traveler schedule is created by unit staffing coordinator and published in advance Team environment includes assigned charge nurse without a patient load and nurse aides supporting patient care Comprehensive orientation includes 8-hour general hospital orientation and unit-specific shifts Will include travelers in holiday staffing rotations First-time travelers will be considered for this position
Requirements Active RN license (state or compact) required at time of consideration Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in a PCU setting Current ACLS and BLS certifications required Must be comfortable and skilled in managing and titrating multiple cardiac drips Ability to interpret cardiac and telemetry strips independently Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with at least 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing Must not have been employed by any facility affiliated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year Reside at least 50 miles from the facility as determined by driver's license
