Project Kuiper is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. In this role, you will develop software for the Kuiper Customer Terminal embedded systems engineering team. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, deployment and operations of the functions for Kuiper Customer Terminals.

Key job responsibilities
Development and testing with embedded Linux
Develop embedded software functions for Customer Terminal devices within the Project Kuiper system
Developing embedded software utilizing Rust, C++, C
Participate in all phases of SDLC: requirements, design, coding, test, deployment and production system
Development of software in a secure compute environment
State machine design and analysis
Support Customer Terminal deployments operations and debugging on production systems
Technical writing of design specifications
A day in the life
As part of our software engineering team, you will design, implement and debug software used to test and debug embedded software for Kuiper Customer Terminal platforms in R&D and commercial operation. You will work in a collaborative environment with teams in Kuiper Customer Terminal hardware development, software development and operations. You need to be flexible and responsive to fast changing priorities and issues. You will work on Customer Terminal issues on production system platforms.
About the team
The Kuiper Customer Terminal Software Team develops and supports the devices that connect Kuiper subscribers to the Kuiper network. We provide software for the Kuiper Customer Terminal platform, applications and underlying Linux system. We work hand in hand with hardware engineering, product, and operations teams to deliver commercial grade services for our Kuiper subscribers.
Basic Qualifications
7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
Proficiency in languages suitable for system-level programming (C++, Rust, Go)
Experience with CI/CD pipeline setup and management
Experience with automated testing and continuous integration

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
