Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This role includes preparing patients, assisting during procedures, monitoring patient status, and ensuring high standards of safety and care throughout the perioperative period. The RN collaborates closely with cardiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Prepare the Cath Lab and patients for cardiac catheterization and related procedures. Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs and cardiac status before, during, and after procedures. Assist cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures by managing equipment and providing necessary supplies. Maintain sterile technique and ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed. Administer medications and intravenous fluids as prescribed. Provide patient education regarding procedures, pre- and post-care instructions, and discharge planning. Respond promptly and effectively to any patient complications or emergencies during procedures. Document nursing care, patient responses, and procedure details accurately and timely. Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes. Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment. Prior experience in Cardiac Cath Lab or critical care nursing strongly preferred. Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and catheterization procedures. Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and use of Cath Lab equipment. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient care abilities. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Cer tifications Valid RN license (required). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required). Cardiovascular Nursing Certification (preferred).
