As a
Regulatory Coordinator Intern , you will be an integral part of our Regulatory team, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations across our operations. This position will offer you valuable hands-on experience in permitting, regulatory reporting, and collaborative projects with various teams, including Land, Operations, D&C, Development, Legal, and HSE. This internship is designed to provide rich learning experiences through on-the-job training and mentorship from a dedicated Regulatory Coordinator. You will be located in Houston, Texas or Midland, Texas, with potential visits to field locations for a deeper insight into our operations. The internship lasts between 10 to 14 weeks, depending on project requirements and your availability. Successful performance during this internship may lead to future employment opportunities with ConocoPhillips. Key Responsibilities:
Assist with well permitting and documentation for post-spud compliance. Support the preparation and submission of environmental surface permits. Maintain and update regulatory metrics and dashboards for internal reporting purposes. Conduct regulatory research and summarize updates on rule changes or agency information. Collaborate with team members to create materials for agency interactions and audits. Participate in team meetings and assist with project coordination and contractor oversight. Shadow experienced Regulatory Coordinators to learn about pipeline compliance and enforcement. Basic Qualifications:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in a related field, including Environmental Studies, Geoscience, Political Science, or similar. Open to college students from Freshman to Senior levels, with expected graduation dates between Fall 2026 and Spring/Fall 2029. Available for a minimum of ten (10) continuous weeks for the internship. Preferred Qualifications:
Willingness to work in Houston, TX or Midland, TX. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Previous internship or co-op experience in an energy-related field. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrates high integrity and ethical behavior. Proactively builds positive relationships and works collaboratively. Takes ownership of commitments and demonstrates accountability. Effectively analyzes information to develop safe and ethical solutions.
