Primary Function:
Prepare materials for mold assembly, processing of ingots, and preparing for melting as required.
Tools and Equipment:
Operate Crane, hoists, forklifts, pallet jacks, scales, cut off machine, marking machines, vacuum induction melting furnace, vacuum cleaner, hand tools, dust collector, mold tubes, rack tilt machine, mold blasting machine, mold pre heat furnace, etc. Plus, fall protection, LOTO, and confined space training. Required PPE to includes safety shoes, hearing protection, glasses, respirator, face shield, hard hat, high temp jacket, and gloves, other as determined.

Working Procedure:
The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties as assigned by the supervisor: • Prepare materials as needed, cut, weigh, clean as required • Verify charge weights and load bulk charger with appropriate sequencing (per instruction) • Ensure cleanliness and organization of raw materials, as well as security (locked) • Assemble mold rack, install hot-tops, stools, and inspect/clean mold tubes, operate rack tilt machine, operate mold blasting equipment • Pre-heat mold assembly, load onto mold car, operate mold pre-heat furnace (start-up, confirm temp and set points) • Press ingot out of molds, load and operate ingot press machine, lifting devices, input recipes, remove chill as needed, unload empty molds from discharge station • Remove hot top and stool end of ingot, operate cutoff machine, align work piece per instruction, LOTO, change abrasive cutoff wheels, mark work piece with ingot serial number, manual hand stamp • Grind OD of ingot, operate grinding machines, LOTO and change belts and abrasive wheels • Perform inspection and rework of ingots per visual standard (may require quality control stamp & qualification) • Perform alloy type verification using hand-held XRF spectrometry • Charge sizing, operate cut-off machine, weigh and mark ingots to appropriate weight/length • Insure correct marking of work piece with ingot serial number • Disassemble mold rack, operate mold tilt machine, hand tools, lifting devices • Must follow all safety requirements of job as outlined on the job safety card • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor • Complete all paperwork associated with the job. Correctly maintain all forms and instruction sheets • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment • Inform your supervisor about problems that occur • May be required to handle hazardous waste by collecting and transferring the waste into proper containers at satellite storage areas or storage areas and assuring that the containers are properly inspected, labeled, and closed as required. Must follow correct instruction for handling hazardous waste and report any deviations to supervisor immediately. Must attend yearly instruction in hazardous waste handling and review of current procedures if job duties could affect non-compliance.
Special Skills and/or Experience:
Forklift License, LOTO and confined Space training desired but not required. Previous metal or casting experience preferred. Must have at least 1-year manufacturing experience. Requires sufficient strength and physical dexterity to frequently lift up to 70 lbs.
