We are seeking a detail-oriented

Italian Metadata Technician Intern

to join the Family History Department. In this role, you will help make historical record collections from Italy available to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by creating high-quality metadata for FamilySearch systems.

You will work under minimal supervision and be responsible for analyzing, describing, and organizing historical records-often in old handwritten Roman and non-Roman scripts-to support worldwide access to genealogical resources.

Responsibilities

• Organize and analyze records acquired from Italian archives, often in historical handwritten scripts.

• Describe record and book contents for the

FamilySearch Catalog , record collections, and the

FamilySearch Wiki .

• Provide written research instructions for patrons in both

English and Italian .

• Build and maintain

authority thesauri

to ensure consistency in subjects, names, and localities.

• Create accurate

source citations

for collections, records, and images.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in

Italian

(reading and writing).

• Strong computer skills with proficiency in

Excel ,

Word , and

Outlook .

• Fast and accurate data entry skills ( 55+ WPM ).

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to focus for extended periods.

• Production- and goal-oriented mindset.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Commitment to excellence.



Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

and worthy to hold a temple recommend.

Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation. They must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.
