Summary:
Safety Investigation Engineer conducts analysis lithium-ion battery (small, medium/large Pack/Module/Cell, ESS) and vehicle/house/facilities related accident site and failure parts investigation, internal and external failure samples. Also, carry out reproduction experiments (cell and pack level) in certain conditions. This job is responsible for identifying the clear root cause of safety issues, serving as a control tower to improve accident issues, and finally providing safe batteries to customers.
Responsibilities:
Organize and streamline processes/procedures
Derive the root cause through on-site verification, investigation, and ignition analysis of safety issues
Guide and train operators on the use of analysis equipment
Guide and train operators to perform analysis processing of products
Analyze structural and design safety risks of automobile & battery (Pack to Cell) system
Analyze safety issue investigation result in collaboration with customer when thermal incident occurs.
Figure out the root cause through on-site verification, investigation and ignition analysis of safety issues; the reason why the fire starts by analyzing CT scanned Image of the safety issue samples
Verify thermal incident mechanism based on the symptom and root cause by reproduction test
Analyze structural and design safety risk of automobile & battery(Pack to Cell) system
Analyze Risk and cause through buyback and issue adjacent cell analysis
Analyze the cause of battery failure through precision analysis equipment
Conducting reproducibility experiment to verify the probable cause of field issue
Activity and library creation of clear occurrence phenomena for major singularities identified in field quality analysis and reproduction test results
Close communication with multi-functional teams, including Pack/Cell analysis part and Customer Service Team
Attend meetings for abroad Suppliers, Customers and HQ requests, when issues are related to analysis output
Create instruction and diagnostic manuals
Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent, relevant experience
Experience in a Quality Engineering role or Reproducible experiment work in an automotive manufacturing environment including or co-op’s experience
Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, presentation
Critical thinking and an analytical approach to problem solving
Experience:
1 to 3+ years of experience, including or co-op experience, in a Quality Engineering role or Reproducible experiment work in an automotive manufacturing environment
Skills:
Comfortable working independently and with others
Results-oriented and perseverant
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Technically proficient and motivated to continuously improve
MS Office Suite
Ability to work flexible hours occasionally to support related team
Ability to wear a respirator while working
Prefer to CVFI,CFEI & Fire related failure parts analysis experience including EV/PHEV vehicle
Electric & Electronics related knowledge in vehicle
Mandatory requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science
Able to work while wearing respirator
