Overview: The
Director of Philanthropy
is a senior level, strategic and visionary leader responsible for developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies that support innovative programs and long-term organizational growth. This role focuses on cultivating meaningful relationships with community members, donors, and stakeholders, while leading capital campaigns and other fundraising initiatives that align with the organization’s mission, vision and values.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Strategic Planning Develop and execute comprehensive philanthropic giving strategies to achieve fundraising goals. Align donor engagement strategies with organizational priorities and long-term plans. Monitor trends in philanthropy and adapt strategies to maximize opportunities. 2. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship
Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors, corporate partners, foundations, and other stakeholders. Identify potential donors, conduct research, and develop personalized engagement plans. Plan and execute stewardship initiatives, including acknowledgment programs and impact reporting. 3. Fundraising Campaigns
Oversee the design and execution of capital campaigns, annual giving programs, and special events. Coordinate planned giving and legacy giving programs to encourage long-term contributions. Collaborate with marketing teams to create compelling materials for donor outreach. 4. Team Leadership and Collaboration
Collaborate with the executive team, board members, and volunteers to maximize fundraising efforts. Engage staff across departments to integrate fundraising with broader organizational goals. 5. Budgeting and Reporting
Develop and manage the philanthropic giving budget, ensuring cost-effective operations. Track and analyze fundraising performance metrics to inform strategy. Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress, donor activity, and financial outcomes for leadership and stakeholders. 6. Manage Fundraising Events
(i.e. Golf Outing, Ball/Dinner, etc)
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, or related field (Master’s and/or CFRE preferred). Experience : Proven track record of successful fundraising, including securing major gifts and managing donor portfolios. Skills :
Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Proficient in fundraising software and donor management tools. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and adapt strategies.
