CASA of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. CASA volunteers advocate children with an open court case for abuse and neglect. Volunteers are placed on a court case to advocate for children. We ask for an 18-month commitment, since that is usually how long a case lasts, spending about 2-4 hours per week on the case. The main job of a CASA volunteer is to have the child’s best interest in mind, while advocating for them to return to a safe and permanent home in a timely manner. This will require spending time with the children weekly, fact gathering, writing court reports, and going to court. You will be asked to advocate in all aspects of the child’s life. You are an extra set of eyes and ears for the Judge on what is happening on the case.
