Job Summary

We're seeking a seasoned

Senior Data Protection Engineer

to lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise-grade data protection solutions. This role is pivotal in ensuring the resilience, recoverability, and compliance of our data across on-premises and cloud environments.

Essential Functions

Architect and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions using:

Dell PowerProtect Data Manager

Dell Avamar

Dell Data Domain

Design and implement data protection strategies across hybrid environments (on-prem, public cloud).

Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure data protection aligns with business continuity and compliance requirements.

Manage and optimize backup workflows for virtualized environments (VMware).

Integrate and automate data protection workflows using ServiceNow for ticketing, reporting, and change management.

Lead disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution across critical systems.

Monitor and troubleshoot backup failures, performance issues, and capacity planning.

Maintain documentation, runbooks, and compliance reports for audits and regulatory reviews (HIPAA, HITRUST, etc.).

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)

7+ years of experience in enterprise data protection roles

Relevant certifications (e.g., Dell EMC, VMware, AWS/Azure, ITIL) preferred

Expert-level experience with Dell PowerProtect, Avamar, and Data Domain

Strong VMware administration and backup integration

Experience with public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) backup and DR strategies

Proficiency in ServiceNow workflows and automation

Proven track record in DR planning, testing, and execution

Familiarity with healthcare data regulations (HIPAA, HITRUST)

PowerShell, Python, or similar for automation and reporting

Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-team collaboration
