About the Role:
The Janitor in our Bay City school district plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for ensuring that all school facilities are kept in excellent condition through regular cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation tasks. The janitor will contribute to the overall health and safety standards by adhering to established protocols and using appropriate cleaning materials and equipment. This role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to support the smooth operation of the school. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred but not required. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Basic understanding of cleaning procedures and safety protocols. Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a school or educational environment. Familiarity with environmentally friendly cleaning products and practices. Basic maintenance skills such as minor repairs or equipment troubleshooting. Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings or evenings if required. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with school staff and administration. Responsibilities:
Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal throughout classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas. Sanitize high-touch surfaces and restrooms regularly to maintain hygiene and prevent the spread of illness. Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel. Set up and break down furniture or equipment for school events as needed. Follow safety guidelines and use cleaning chemicals and equipment properly to ensure a safe working environment.
