About the Role
Flats LLC is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team at a multi-family property in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, IL. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the physical condition of our properties, ensuring that all equipment, systems, and amenities are functioning properly. You will play a crucial role in fostering a safe and enjoyable living environment for our residents while growing your skills in a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
Hours & Schedule
Hours: 40 hours a week, with flexibility depending on business needs
Business hours: Wednesday - Sunday: 8 AM - 4 PM On-call duties may be required Individual work schedule is subject to business needs and coordinated and approved by your direct report.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Duties: Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on apartments, building systems, and property infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs.
Inspection: Perform regular inspections of the property to identify maintenance needs, ensuring all common areas, amenities, and resident units are in optimal condition.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to maintenance requests and address emergency situations, including water leaks, gas odors, and electrical failures, with professionalism and urgency.
Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of maintenance tasks performed, material usage, and time spent on each project. Assist with inventory management for maintenance supplies.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Property Manager and other team members to coordinate maintenance efforts and ensure that all service requests are completed in a timely manner.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and company policies while performing maintenance tasks. Report any safety violations or concerns to management immediately.
Other Duties: Assist with seasonal property preparation, including snow removal, landscaping, and facility improvements.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions to continually grow and improve skills and knowledge of the industry.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
1-3 years of maintenance experience in a multi-family or commercial environment preferred Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and appliance repair Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently Various certifications (EPA, HVAC, etc.) are a plus High school diploma or equivalent is required
