The City of Stockton Public Works Department is looking for a dynamic and skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our team! In this role, you'll have the opportunity to lead and oversee professional engineering work, guiding both City staff and consultants in the investigation, planning, design, construction, and maintenance of a variety of essential street, bridge, and facility type projects in the Capital Improvement Design, or Traffic Engineering sections of the Public Works Department.

Under general supervision, plans, organizes and directs the activities of either the Engineering Division staff engaged in professional engineering activities for a variety of traffic and/or capital improvement projects, and related work as assigned.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This class is a section head in the Engineering Division with responsibility for planning, organizing, directing, conducting and reviewing the work of staff engaged in plan checking and development services and/or the preparation of plans, specifications, designs, estimates, schedules, inspections and project management activities for construction and maintenance programs. It is distinguished from the classes of Deputy Director of Public Works/City Engineer and Deputy MUD Director which have overall responsibility for the Engineering Division activities.

Education/Experience: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a closely related field or possession of a valid California Engineer-In-Training Certificate
AND
five (5) years of responsible experience in design, development review or construction management of civil engineering projects, one (1) year of which was at a level equivalent to the City's class of Associate Engineer.
