What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health
Application Development & Maintenance plays a critical role in enabling Cardinal Health's business operations by overseeing the technical configuration, design, functional integration, development oversight, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise applications.
As part of Cardinal Health's multi-year strategy to expand U.S. warehouse capacity and modernize pharmaceutical distribution, the Pharmaceutical Warehouse Solutions IT team is growing to support enterprise warehouse management implementations. Focused on enhancing customer experience, this initiative will increase inventory capacity and streamline operations. The team delivers and supports advanced IT solutions across distribution centers, including warehouse management systems, labor planning tools, automation integrations, and analytics platforms.
We are in need of a Sr. Engineer specializing in Warehouse Management Systems!
What is expected of you and others at this level
Applies advanced knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to manage a wide variety of projects
Participates in the development of policies and procedures to achieve specific goals
Recommends new practices, processes, metrics, or models
Works on or may lead complex projects of large scope
Projects may have significant and long-term impact
Provides solutions which may set precedent
Independently determines method for completion of new projects
Receives guidance on overall project objectives
Acts as a mentor to less experienced colleagues
Responsibilities
Provide technical and functional support for large-scale program implementations within a matrixed environment.
Offer technical oversight across custom-built products, packaged software, and SaaS applications.
Lead and mentor a blended team of onshore and offshore resources, including contractors and full-time employees.
Develop expertise in Manhattan Active (SaaS) solutions, with a focus on enabling ProActive client-led application development.
Collaborate with Operations, Business, and IT Leadership to select solution components that align with enterprise standards and meet business needs.
Deliver technical recommendations and support solution design for warehouse automation and warehouse management systems.
Provide guidance on infrastructure, cloud maintenance, software development best practices, DevSecOps, and testing automation.
Support incident response and on-call operations for Warehouse Management Systems across all Cardinal Health distribution facilities.
Facilitate root cause analysis sessions with cross-functional support teams.
Apply working knowledge of ERP, warehouse/distribution processes, and accounting concepts.
Leverage strong pharmaceutical supply chain expertise to inform solution design and implementation.
Quali
fications
Bachelor's or advanced degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience preferred.
10 + years of experience in application development or related technical domains preferred.
Deep understanding of technology domains and end-to-end application architectures.
Hands-on experience with Manhattan technologies (WMOS 2019, Active WM, ProActive).
Proficiency in Java or .NET frameworks and coding standards.
Proven track record in implementing large-scale, technically complex solutions.
Strong knowledge of warehouse management processes (inbound, outbound, inventory, analytics).
Experience designing and developing Architecture and APIs for service-based integrations within a microservices architecture.
Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React, and Ember.
Proficiency in multiple development languages including C, C++, Java, Kotlin, .NET, REST/SOAP APIs.
Experience with SaaS and packaged software solutions.
Expertise in cloud architecture and deployment (Google Cloud preferred; AWS also relevant), including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models.
Experience with warehouse automation solutions and Android app development is a plus.
Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Anticipated salary range:
$123,400 - $176,300
