Department Marketing Statement:

Washington Metro Transit Authority is seeking a Rail Application Support & Maintenance Specialist to work within the Unified Digital Response (UDR) team. The incumbent must be highly technical and essential in this position to support Metro Integrated Command and Communication (MICC) and authority wide operations 24x7x365.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma, and completion of an Information Technology-related vocational or technical training program.

In lieu of the completion of an Information Technology-related vocational or technical program, six (6) months of experience in a Network Operations environment, monitoring and managing software and/or hardware infrastructures, problem management, event and fault management and incident escalations may be considered.

Experience

Two (2) years of experience in a Network Operations environment, monitoring and managing software and/or hardware infrastructures, problem management, event and fault management and incident escalations Certification/Licensure

Possession of a valid driver's license issued from jurisdiction of residence. Must acquire Roadway Worker Protection Certification Level 1. Preferred

Education

Associate Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems Technology or related field. Medical Group

Incumbents in this role may be required to report to or continue to work in the event of authorized office closings or servere weather, natural disaster, fire, operational emergencies or related events.

Job Summary

The Rail Application Support and Maintenance (RASM) Specialist supports and maintains Rail Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and various components such as hardware, software, interfaces for subsystems data streams, and Rail Information Technology systems. The RASM Specialists are essential 24x7 employees, responsible for applications, systems, network infrastructure and monitoring of several IT Rail related components.

Essential Functions

Maintains system availability of the Advance Information Management (AIM) system and other Rail Information Technology systems associated with the Rail Operations Control Center (ROCC). Maintains procedures to support all duties associated with AIM and all other Rail IT Systems, to include all levels of support and modification of documents and processes, ensuring successful maintenance on all ROCC owned systems, including but not limited to, backup, storage, archive, retrieve, restore and catalog critical historical information. Maintains on-line and off-line operations data by utilizing system tools to monitor applications. Responsible for hardware and software support activities for multiple Operating Systems and customized applications for the Passenger Information Display System (PIDS), Rail Performance Monitor (RPM), Lost of Shunt (LOS), Train Progress Server (TPS) and all internal and external client applications Initiates, tracks, escalates, communicates and coordinates problem resolutions for the CA ticketing system while updating the knowledge base system to assist in obtaining faster resolutions. Responsible for troubleshooting and maintenance, to include preventive and corrective activities on all rail related IT systems. Acts as Technical Lead for all SCADA maintenance activities. Supports, installs and repairs both proprietary ROCS computer systems (developed in-house) as well as third-party systems. Supports actions required for remediation of security vulnerability activities Maintains operations configuration and maintenance procedures. Provides primary support for all ROCS inventory for all operational maintenance and system components for Production and Non-Productions systems. Responsible for system components to include break/fix maintenance on all ROCS systems supported devices. Monitors both statistical and graphical performance information on the network. Analyzes reports to include information on traffic patterns, bandwidth utilization, protocol usage and tuning recommendations. Responsible for all network activities inside of the WMATA IT Transport demarcation concerning cabling, data communication and infrastructure related degradation and performance related issues in SCADA and its subsystem interfaces. Responsible for hardware, infrastructure, system construction, set-up and deployment. OTHER FUNCTIONS

Responsible for task requests, incidents and problems concerning station assessment on wayside applications such as PIDS. Attends meetings and seminars related to Essential Functions.
