Summary

This position manages technical projects related to development of new product formulations, technical service, and product/margin improvement. Responsible for maintaining customer relations through development and for additional technical support. Personnel in this position are often sought out by other members of the company as a resource for solving quality, processing, and development issues.

Duties/Responsibilities Develops new product formulations and modifies/improves existing product formulations. Provides formulations for product quotations and initiates production of sample formulations for compounding. Coordinates the development of new products with Manufacturing and Process Engineering to assure products can be produced on a commercial scale. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates physical, thermal, weatherable, paintable, and analytical test data. Organizes this data for presentation as required by customers (i.e. Certification Packages, Technical Data Sheets, etc.) or internal education. Evaluates raw materials for approval to use in new or existing product formulations. Interfaces with vendors to identify new raw material or improve on current technologies. Interfaces with sales representatives and customers to identify new product development opportunities, to verify existing project requirements, and to update the status of existing projects. Authorizes the release of samples for customer evaluations and provides any follow-up technical support Participates in weekly meetings to prioritize and schedule the production of samples. Participates in periodic Sales Meetings and monthly teleconferences. Assures compliance with various regulatory agencies as related to product formulations (i.e. UL, FDA, NAFTA, NSF, etc.). Maintains a working knowledge of all WP custom compounds as a technical expert sought out by other departments Performs in-house studies characterizing and correlating product formulations and their processing performance Performs other duties and assignments as directed by supervisor Recommended Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or equivalent. Analytical and organic chemistry background, education, or training. Formulating experience in polyolefin compounding preferred. Minimum 10 years of relevant technical experience. Must be able to travel to all Audia divisions, vendors, and customer sites for technical support Skilled in the use of basic computer software, including word-processing and spreadsheets.
