Job Description:
As an
Electrical Design Engineer
at
Caterpillar , you will be responsible for assisting in the design, detailing, and analysis of electrical installation solutions for Wheeled Products. This role supports engineering teams in harness and cable design, electrical load calculations, and collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders. You will play a key role in ensuring system accuracy and functionality while integrating electrical systems into
Wheeled Products
such as
Motor Graders and Wheel Tractor Scrapers .
Key Responsibilities: Assist offsite and offshore engineering teams with
electrical installation design, detailing, and analysis
tasks. Support the
creation, detailing, and release
of electrical installation designs, including harnesses, cables, and large wiring groups. Communicate findings and updates to
internal teams, external customers, and suppliers
as needed. Contribute to
product maintenance
activities to ensure system reliability and performance. Typical Day:
A typical day will include
designing harnesses and cables in Creo, reviewing schematics, conducting load analyses , and assisting with supplier coordination or internal team requests to keep projects on track.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferred
(Electrical Engineering is ideal, but Mechanical Engineering is also acceptable). Candidates with an
Associate's degree and relevant experience
may also be considered. Qualifications:
Electrical Design Skills:
~2 years of experience designing
harnesses and cables
using
Creo Electrical Design . Harness/Cable Installation:
~2 years of experience supporting
harness and cable installation design , ideally for
mining vehicles or heavy machinery . Schematic Support:
~2 years of experience working with
electrical schematics . Caterpillar Machine Knowledge:
Familiarity with
electrical installation design
at
Caterpillar
is a plus.
