Production Automation & Test Engineer - Scale Automated Systems for Next-Gen Electro-Optics Hardware!
Camarillo, CA | Onsite
Opportunity Summary
We are looking for a Test Engineerto take ownership of building and scaling automated test systems that support advanced sensors and camera technologies used in defense and industrial applications. This is a hands-on role where you will design and optimize systems that ensure products meet rigorous standards for performance and reliability in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of production and automation. You'll be working closely with manufacturing and design teams to implement robust test processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance yield. If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges while directly impacting the efficiency and quality of hardware going into critical real-world systems, this role is for you.
About Us
We are a fast-growing technology company specializing in advanced electro-optical products that serve both defense and commercial sectors. Our team is dedicated to delivering hardware that pushes the boundaries of performance while maintaining the highest levels of precision and reliability. With strong momentum and a culture that values collaboration and innovation, we provide an environment where engineers can make a significant impact.
Job Duties Develop, implement, and sustain automated systems to support production line testing, calibration, and validation of sensor and camera hardware. Create standardized test procedures to ensure consistency, repeatability, and traceability across production batches. Partner with production, quality, and design teams to identify bottlenecks and introduce process improvements. Automate manual workflows to shorten test cycle times, minimize operator error, and increase throughput. Maintain data systems for test tracking, reporting, and yield analysis to support corrective action and root cause investigations. Provide day-to-day troubleshooting and support for test equipment and fixtures on the production floor. Work with engineering teams to transition new designs from development into scalable production test systems. Train technicians and operators on test procedures while ensuring adherence to established production standards. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 3+ years of experience in production test engineering, automation, or hardware test system development. Proficiency in Python for automation and hardware interfacing (C# experience is a plus). Hands-on experience integrating production test equipment, including motion control, calibration systems, and environmental test setups. Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), yield tracking, and corrective action practices. Strong background working cross-functionally with production teams and technicians in manufacturing environments. Database experience (SQL/NoSQL) for test data management and tracking. Experience with version control systems such as Git and configuration management for test code. Preferred Experience
Prior work in high-mix, low-volume production environments (aerospace, defense, or optics preferred). Experience designing robust test fixtures and jigs to support production. Knowledge of ISO, AS9100, or similar industry quality standards. Understanding of embedded communication protocols (Ethernet, UART, I²C, SPI) as applied to production testing. Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to respond quickly to production floor issues. Why Join Us
Work on cutting-edge technology with real-world impact. Opportunity for professional growth in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Collaborative culture with strong cross-functional teamwork.
