Position Description:
The
Med/Surg RN
is responsible for delivering direct, individualized nursing care based on scientific nursing principles in a hospital setting. The role supports patients before and after surgery and requires the ability to handle a broad range of medical needs, including occasional pediatric/adolescent care.
Key Responsibilities: Coordinate with healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. Administer medications via oral, subcutaneous, and IV routes; monitor and report adverse reactions. Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and post-discharge care. Monitor vital signs, maintain accurate patient records, and interpret electronic equipment data. Provide bedside care for medical, surgical, and pediatric/adolescent patients. Perform nursing procedures: IV starts, catheter insertions, dressing changes, etc. Assist physicians with exams and treatments. Respond to emergencies using established nursing protocols. Participate in patient discharge planning and education. Float between Riverton and Lander campuses as needed based on census. Requirements:
Licensure: Active
Wyoming RN license
or
multi-state compact RN license
(attached to resume).
Certifications (Must be through the American Heart Association): BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) (All certifications must be attached to the submission packet.)
Experience: Minimum
2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience
in a hospital setting.
Other: Must be comfortable providing care to
pediatric/adolescent patients
(no dedicated peds unit at facility). Must be flexible to float between
Riverton and Lander campuses
if needed. Submission must include the
SageWest coversheet .
