Barstow Community College is an open-access, comprehensive two-year institution serving a diverse student population in the Mojave region of San Bernardino County, California. The College's campus is located in the City of Barstow, California, situated in California's high desert, between Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Established in 1959, the Barstow Community College District (BCCD) encompasses a vast service area, stretching from the Nevada border on the East to Kern County on the West, and from Inyo County in the North to the San Bernardino Mountain range in the South. BCCD serves the communities of Barstow, Lenwood, Newberry Springs, Daggett, Yermo, Hinkley, Ludlow and Baker. The institution also maintains a satellite learning center at the U.S. Army National Training Center in Ft. Irwin, California, which serves military personnel and their families.

This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part-time (up to 67%), substitute, temporary, or hourly assignments on an as needed basis. Departments will refer to the pool of applications on file, as needed, to fill temporary assignments. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies.
REQUIREMENTS
Any bachelor's degree plus two (2) years of related professional experience required.
OR Any associate's degree plus six (6) years of related professional experience.
AND an unrestricted valid California Registered Nursing License or a valid unrestricted California Vocational Nursing License.
AND Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Experience must include : Two (2) years of nursing experience (RN, LVN). One (1) of the two years must be as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting. AND
one of the following: One (1) year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing. OR Twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing (submit course certificate or transcript) completed within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program. Courses must be approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or administered by an accredited educational institution.
