Tessera is seeking a reliable and skilled Heavy Truck Driver to support operations at the United States Air Force Academy. This role involves transporting materials, equipment, and refuse using various heavy vehicles—including dump trucks and tractor-trailers—while supporting paving and snow removal efforts. Drivers perform inspections, maintain trip logs, and ensure safe, efficient deliveries across the installation. Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Operate heavy trucks including tractors with semi-trailers, full trailers, dolly converters, and roll-on/roll-off trucks to transport materials and equipment.
Perform snow and ice removal operations across USAFA grounds, ensuring safe and efficient access to mission-critical facilities during inclement weather.
Support paving operations by hauling materials, staging equipment, and assisting with site prep to ensure smooth and timely project execution.
Haul heavy construction equipment, oversized and overweight loads, and refuse in support of base maintenance operations.
Perform cargo deliveries as assigned, ensuring secure transport and accurate documentation.
Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, perform basic preventative maintenance, and ensure vehicles are fueled and operational.
Maintain trip logs, cargo records, and preventive maintenance documentation in compliance with DOT and USAFA standards.
Communicate with dispatch or supervisors via radio or phone for routing and task updates.
Uphold professionalism in appearance, conduct, and adherence to safety protocols while operating across the installation.
Qualifications:
3 years minimum of professional heavy truck driving experience, preferably in construction, military, or government contract environments
Experience transporting oversized, overweight, or specialized loads such as construction equipment or refuse
Familiarity with preventive maintenance, trip logs, and DOT compliance
Proven ability to operate in varied terrain and weather conditions, including snow removal and blackout operations
Physical Requirements:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.
May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

CDL Class A required.
A Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated pre-employment medical examination and drug screening are required. Candidates must meet federal guidelines to be considered for this position.
Must be registered with the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and maintain a clean record per state and federal guidelines.
