The Defense Systems group at Leidos is seeking a highly skilled
Senior Principal RF Antenna Systems Engineer
to join our dynamic team. This position will be based at our St. Petersburg, FL office, where we specialize in designing, developing, and testing advanced electronic systems, especially for embedded communication systems, Software Defined Radios, and Phased Array Antenna Systems catering to various DOD and commercial clients. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers in the design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing of advanced phased array antenna systems.
Manage and ensure traceability of requirements for multiple antenna systems.
Provide technical oversight, collaborating with clients and program managers to shape antenna system concepts into concrete requirements and specifications while conducting trade studies.
Create comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture, test plans/procedures, and test reports, while also offering insights on emerging technologies and industry trends.
Engage in strategic capture efforts, contributing to white papers, RFI responses, and proposal development of technical volumes.
Essential Qualifications Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Bachelor's degree with 15 to 20 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 13 to 18 years of relevant experience.
Proficient in the design, simulation, fabrication, and testing of various shaped complex phased array antenna systems.
Experience in near-field and far-field measurements of phased array antennas and algorithms for near-field to far-field transformations.
Skilled in modeling and simulation tools such as HFSS, FEKO, and Matlab.
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and conduct technical design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TIM) with clients.
Strong project management expertise.
Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
Preferred Qualifications Possession of an active Security Clearance.
Deep understanding of electromagnetic theory, phased array antenna systems, and RF/Microwave systems.
Experience in developing algorithms to enhance phased array antennas, including nulling, self-healing, and digital beamforming techniques.
Familiarity with various antenna test facilities and measurement equipment, including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, RF power meters, and RF signal generators.
Working knowledge of the radio frequency spectrum and modern communication infrastructures, including signal structures, propagation, modulation types, data rates, and multiplexing/demultiplexing methods.
