Utility & Data Center Specialist
As a CBRE Utility & Data Center Specialist, you will support utility analysis, site evaluations, and project coordination for data center and energy-intensive clients. This role combines technical analysis of energy infrastructure with business development support, requiring strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex utility information into actionable insights for data center operators and other high-energy-demand clients. Develop and implement detailed approaches for managing requests from data center operators, clients, and partners. Build efficient workflows for prioritizing and responding to client needs with emphasis on data center energy requirements. Prepare business development materials, presentations, and client-facing documents. Support proposal development and client engagement activities across the Energy & Renewables practice. Use platforms to evaluate prospective powered land sites for data center development, analyzing transmission capacity, substation ratings and equipment ownership, electric service territories, and wetland/water considerations as applicable to high-power facility development. Develop load ramps based on client requirements and industry standard processes. Build comprehensive site summaries that synthesize technical findings into business-relevant insights. Interpret sophisticated utility tariffs, including large load requirements for credit deposits, interconnection processes, timelines, and rate structures. Proactively contact utilities to acquire current information on evolving processes and requirements. Track and analyze large load regulatory dockets and regional utility generation conditions, including reserve margins and generator interconnection queues. Prepare concise client briefings on regulatory changes affecting energy projects. Coordinate interconnected CBRE team projects, ensuring alignment across multiple participants and maintaining project timelines. Lead cross-functional collaboration between business development, technical teams, and external partners. Translate technical documents and utility information into clear, accessible content for non-energy business audiences; maintain high standards for accuracy and clarity in all communications. Bachelor's Degree preferred with 2-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly sophisticated problems. Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply judgment and precedents. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mentality. Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard and slightly complex problems. Experience with analyzing information and standard practices to make judgments. Advanced math skills. Ability to calculate complicated figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations. The minimum salary for the Utility & Data Center Specialist position is $110,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Utility & Data Center Specialist position is $160,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
