Facilities Maintenance Technician

The primary role of a Facilities Maintenance Technician is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in at least one craft area such as Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations and be multi-skilled in others. Responsibilities include: Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems to ensure compliance with standards. Emphasis on commercial HVAC units. Travel between multiple facilities to ensure their proper function. Manage facility services, including preventive maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency. Maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment by cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and changing parts for optimal performance. Record readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment. Comply with departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, while maintaining a clean and safe workplace. Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory. Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors. Adhere to all safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and recognize safety hazards, proposing methods to eliminate them. Essential skills include: Experience in Plumbing, HVAC, Facilities Maintenance, Lighting, Painting, and Preventive Maintenance. Proficiency in Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, and Central Utility Plant Operations. 5-7 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems. Ability to analyze the operation of Commercial or Industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems, identify issues, and implement corrective actions. EPA 608 Type II Certification or better. Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel. Valid driver's license. Additional skills and qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent. EPA 608 Universal Certification is preferred. Two years of trade schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC is preferred. Why work here? The work environment is hands-on and involves working with a range of technologies and systems. Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, Missouri. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
