Work Experience: To help patients improve their ability to perform tasks in living and working environments. Implement treatments to develop, recover, or maintain the daily living and work skills of their patients. To help clients improve their basic motor functions, reasoning abilities, and to compensate for permanent loss of function. The goal is to help clients live independent, productive, and satisfying lives. Meets the patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and interdisciplinary team. Helps patient develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities by implementing programs involving practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, activities of daily living, and sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities. Issues adaptive equipment and customized splints, as deemed necessary. Promotes maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest. Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications. Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences. Documents patient care services via EMR charting using 'defensible documentation' in a timely and concise manner, in compliance with industry standards. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. o Develops rehab and hospital staff by providing information; developing and conducting in-service training. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipates future legislation; enforces adherence; advises management on needed actions. Strives to: promote health, create a safe and effective treatment environment, motivate others, have a good bedside manner, listen, analyze information, and be quality focused Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain a level of clinical practice consistent with best practice standards. This includes seeking opportunities to gain new knowledge and skills and utilize these newly acquired skills in the provision of care and for growth and development of the department and hospital Critically assesses self to improve clinical and professional performance. Advocates for the occupational therapy profession. School-based occupational therapists (in addition to above expectations): Collaborates with the school-based team to help determine and carryout Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); identify a student's annual goals and determines the services, supports, modifications, and accommodations that are required for the student to achieve them. Home health physical therapists (in addition to above expectations): Provides in-home occupational therapy services to homebound patients and works in collaboration with the home health interdisciplinary team. o Performs other duties as assigned. Completes annual education, training, in-service, and licensure/certification requirements; and attends departmental and organizational staff meetings or reads meeting minutes. o Maintains patient confidentiality at alltimes. Reports to work on time as scheduled; completes work within designated timeframes. Actively participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Strives to uphold regulatory requirements to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state, and federal regulations and policies. Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff. License:

Active Colorado Occupational Therapy License (DORA) or valid compact license, required.

Certifications: BLS/CPR Certification.
