Assistant Laboratory Manager

to join our team! In this role, youll play a key part in overseeing the daily operations of our

geotechnical and construction materials testing laboratory , which specializes in concrete, aggregate, soil, rock, masonry, and asphalt testing. As Assistant Lab Manager, youll work closely with our leadership team to ensure smooth operations, support and mentor lab staff, and coordinate project samples for timely and accurate testing. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to important infrastructure and construction projects while developing your career in a supportive and growth-focused environment. Responsibilities

Performance or coordination of geotechnical laboratory testing, including classification, compaction, shear, consolidation, swell, and compressive strength of borings Performance or coordination of construction materials testing on concrete specimens, soil specimens, flowable fill, aggregate, masonry, and asphalt Coordination and scheduling of laboratory testing assignments Performing, and/or coordinating others in, timely calibrations and maintenance of field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards Maintaining documentation of equipment maintenance and calibrations for compliance with AASHTO and A2LA Accreditation Program requirements, including internal and external audits Frequent use of gINT or Geosystems and field and laboratory information management systems, for recording and reporting testing results Qualifications

High school diploma/GED required Minimum 3 years combined experience in laboratory geotechnical and construction materials testing Familiarity with ASTM and AASHTO test methods specific to geotechnical and construction materials, AASHTO R18 Quality Management System (or comparable), experience with Microsoft Office, geotechnical and material testing equipment, and calibration procedures required Valid drivers license, with acceptable driving record Basic Microsoft Office skills Good written and verbal communication skills Able to work independently and as part of a team with a focus on producing high-quality work Preferred Qualifications

2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience 5+ years of direct laboratory experience in construction materials testing Preferred Certifications

ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician TxDOT Certification(s) in applicable testing areas NICET Certification in Construction Materials Testing Aggregate Testing Certification Travel Requirements

This position does not require regular travel as part of its primary responsibilities. However, occasional travel may be required, up to 10%, primarily for off-site meetings, training sessions, or company events. Travel, when necessary, will be communicated in advance and aligned with business needs. Physical Demands & Work Environment

Work is primarily conducted in a laboratory environment, with occasional exposure to adjacent industrial areas Prolonged exposure to moderate to loud noise levels from lab equipment, ventilation systems, and instrumentation Routine handling of chemicals, biological samples, and other lab materials, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols Regular use of PPE such as lab coats, gloves, safety goggles, and respiratory protection as needed Potential exposure to fumes, chemical odors, dust, and temperature fluctuations depending on lab ventilation and activities Physical requirements include: ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; ability to stand or walk for extended periods; frequent use of hands for pipetting, instrument calibration, typing, labeling, and material handling; ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch; ability to communicate clearly; visual acuity for detailed work EEO Statement
