Description
Purpose:
The Director of Operations is responsible for managing and leading the resort's Operations teams as well as lend support when needed to the General Manager. Under the guidance of the General Manager the Director of Operations will plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operations of the Front Office, Housekeeping, Security, Engineering & Food and Beverage Departments.
Essential Function of Job: Ensure appropriate and effective focus on business objectives on a day-to-day basis, while contributing to the strategic development and leadership of the front office and housekeeping department aligned with the General Manger's vision and company goals. Be accountable for the people, product and profit within the operations departments - excellence in guest experience, maximize profits through sales and yield and exploit opportunities for growth across the business. Provide inspirational leadership by motivating and developing all associates to contribute towards the overall success of the hotel. Ensures cleanliness levels are met by ensuring daily room inspections. Be visible throughout the hotel on a daily basis, meeting with guests as necessary. Manages and develop strong departmental leadership Lead, develop, motivate and empower associates to deliver operational best practice, identifying opportunities and making recommendations for improving efficiency and quality of service and operating standards. Champion a welcoming, service-forward culture; be visible on the floor during peak periods. Achieve/exceed guest satisfaction, online reputation, and brand QA targets; ensure swift service recovery. Maintain safety, cleanliness, and ambiance across guestrooms, public areas, amenities, and grounds. Financial Leadership & Reporting
Lead, monthly forecasts, and weekly labor/cost controls Review daily/weekly performance (RevPAR, ADR, occupancy, outlet revenue, labor productivity); implement corrective actions. Operations Excellence
Ensure effective SOPs/SOGs across Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and F&B; uphold PCI, ADA, food safety, and brand standards. Run daily stand-ups and weekly ops reviews; track KPIs with clear follow-through. Oversee preventive maintenance and life-safety programs to minimize Out-of-Order rooms and guest-impacting incidents. People & Culture
Recruit, train, schedule, and develop a high-performing leadership team; drive engagement, recognition, and retention. Ensure fair, consistent performance management; model professional, inclusive leadership. Maintain a safe workplace and active safety committee; conduct regular trainings and drills. Compliance, Risk & Community
Ensure compliance with federal/state/local laws and permits (health, fire, pool, alcohol, wage & hour). Manage contracts, insurance claims, incident investigations, and vendor SLAs. Represent Banana Bay with community partners, tourism boards, and local stakeholders. Ownership & Reporting
Provide timely, insight-driven reports and presentations to ownership/asset management. Execute strategic initiatives and special projects; communicate risks and opportunities proactively. Qualifications
Qualifications:
4+ years of progressive hotel leadership with
1-2
years as AGM/Dir of Ops/Resort Manager (lifestyle, boutique, or resort experience preferred).
Minimum 1 year F&B management experience, preferably with multi-outlet experience
Track record improving guest satisfaction, online reputation, RevPAR Index, and GOP. Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; decisive and calm under pressure. Working knowledge of hotel systems: PMS (e.g., Opera/Cloud PMS), POS, RMS/CRS, CRM/guest feedback (e.g., Revinate/Medallia), CMMS (e.g., HotSOS/Quore), Microsoft 365/Sharepoint and timekeeping/payroll (e.g., Paycom/ShiftForce) . ServSafe/TIPS and CPO a plus (or willingness to obtain). Strong financial acumen with proven P&L ownership, budgeting/forecasting, and labor/cost control. Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills; calm, decisive presence in a fast-paced environment. Strong Human Resource background; knowledge of local laws & practices Physical Requirements
Frequent walking/standing; occasional lifting/pushing/pulling up to
