In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for providing a moderate to advanced range of coordination of research studies conducted within the Division of Cardiology's Cardiac Cath Lab. The Coordinator will assist with recruitment, enrollment, research data collection and study coordination activities. Performs intra-operative monitoring and serves as liaison with internal and external funding agencies. Ensures the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA, and required obligations to patient/subject, Principal Investigator, Research Team and sponsor. Interfaces directly with patients/subjects, reminding them of visits and ensuring compliance. May monitor any outward effects or issues regarding patient/subject safety and report this to the Principal Investigator, clinician, and manager.

Data Management Collects and audits patient information for the research project(s). This includes abstraction of data from patient charts (laboratory or diagnostic test results, treatments delivered, adverse drug reactions, etc.), abstraction of data for publications, and data collection from outside physicians offices. Audits and manages data in the database, prepares forms and reports, compiles and analyzes data and statistics. Conducts study visits and documents information within specified timeframes. Budget Assists with development of a preliminary draft budget and submits to the PM/Asst. Director/Principal Investigator. Reviews sponsor-proposed budget for adequate coverage of PI and coordinator time; recommends changes as appropriate. Assists in preparing funding reports to funding agencies and helps identify new potential sponsors. Monitors budget throughout the trial. Decision Making and Problem Solving Evaluates information to determine relative importance and selects the best solution. Resolves complex situations and refers unresolved issues with recommendations to the supervisor. Recruitment Screens potential patients/subjects for eligibility, gathers information from medical records and physician referrals, and schedules visits to evaluate participation. Reviews all screening elements with the PI (inclusion/exclusion criteria, informed consent, documentation, willingness to participate). Clinical Competency Performs or assists with EKG, phlebotomy, specimen handling/shipping, and related procedures. In-house training and certification will be provided; other trainings may be required. Continuous Learning Maintains ongoing continuing education in research development; maintains 10 CEUs annually and serves as a resource to peers and collaborates with other disciplines. Reporting and Analysis Compiles data and conducts preliminary analyses for presentation to sponsors and regulatory agencies. Provides progress reports to PI and sponsor; prepares databases and preliminary reports; may complete assessments following protocol and follows up with items and patients as part of the study.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business administration, health care administration or related field. Minimum of two years of progressively responsible project coordination experience, preferably in a research setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with Internet applications. Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interface with all levels of management and with internal and external customers. Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently; commitment to continuous learning; ability to operate research-related equipment; time management and multitasking; ability to make decisions under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) Certification is preferred (required in some disciplines). Knowledge of basic medical terminology is preferred.

Salary range for the role is $64,350.00 $72,064.98 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
