OVERVIEW:
The Program Coordinator Teen Department is responsible to create, maintain and implement Christian Education, music, and youth programs at the Modesto Corps & Red Shield Community Center.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with and under the supervision of the corps officers to develop and maintain Christian Education, music, and youth programs
Lead or assist with youth ministries
Lead, facilitate, and/or assist with all Salvation Army Christian Education, youth, and music programs as directed, including, but not limited to:
Coordinate and assist with program-related transportation in Salvation Army vehicles
the annual VBS program
Plan and lead the Teen Drop-In Program (Teen Room)
Develop and maintain an orderly and timely process for tracking attendance at all teen programs and reporting of statistics
Collaborate with community agencies and report statistics accurately to satisfy grant requirements
Develop and maintain an orderly and timely process of submitting all teen reports to Program Manager
Attend divisional teen/youth events, when instructed, including, but not limited to:
Lead and/or assist with the planning and implementation of all youth planning meetings
Assist/Promote in coordinate the recruitment of camp program participants
Counsel, mentor, and visit teens, and young adults in corps and community center programs
Participate in fundraising activities as directed (Note—this may require a change of normally scheduled hours)
Develop a “bridge” between Community Center and corps, promoting Salvation Army character-building, discipleship, and worship programs
Maintain a positive and supportive attitude toward The Salvation Army, its mission, and the corps officers
Attend all staff training and meetings
Follow all “Protect the Mission” (child safety) guidelines
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Familiarity and experience with Salvation Army youth and music programs, practices and organization is preferable
Previous work experience with children and/or teens in ministry setting preferred
Must be capable of coordination and implementation of youth activities and programs
Minimum of High school diploma or GED
Must possess a state-issued motor vehicle driver’s license, Class B license preferred
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
Ability to work under pressure
Team player
Good organizational skills
Mature, self-motivated, assertive, dependable, and self-controlled
Ability to play a musical instrument and lead the worship time preferable
EQUIPMENT USED:
Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
