CNC Maintenance Mechanic
Turnamics (Asheville, NC) is a machine shop specializing in short to medium production runs of intricate parts. With a commitment to innovation and precision, we rely on advanced CNC machining to produce industry-leading products. We are seeking a skilled CNC Maintenance Technician to ensure our production equipment runs at peak performance. Position Summary: The CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC machines and other manufacturing equipment. This role ensures the reliability and efficiency of production by minimizing downtime, optimizing machine performance, and adhering to preventative maintenance schedules. Responsibilities: Perform routine and preventive maintenance on CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and grinders.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on CNC equipment.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and machine manuals to execute repairs.
Work with production teams to identify and address performance issues with machines.
Perform scheduled inspections and lubrication of machinery to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
Replace worn or defective machine components, such as spindles, ball screws, and servo motors.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and part replacements.
Assist in the installation and calibration of new CNC machines and related equipment.
Collaborate with engineers, machine operators, and management to improve machine uptime and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies while performing maintenance tasks.
Qualifications: Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in CNC machine maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of CNC machine operation, electrical systems, PLCs, and mechanical troubleshooting.
Education: Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
Hands-on Ability: Skilled in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
Attention to Detail: Commitment to precision, safety, and maintaining high-quality standards.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting repairs and coordinating with teams.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment.
