Job Summary
Wilberforce University is seeking a part-time Webmaster to manage, update, and maintain the University's website to ensure that it is accurate, user-friendly, visually engaging, and aligned with the institution's mission. The Webmaster will serve as the primary point of contact for web-related needs and will work collaboratively with departments to ensure timely updates and consistent branding.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain and update website content, including academic programs, events, announcements, and policy information. Ensure website functionality, accessibility, and compliance with ADA and other applicable standards. Monitor website performance, security, and uptime; coordinate with IT or external vendors as needed. Support the integration of online tools (student portals, HR systems, etc.) into the website. Collaborate with University leadership and departments to post accurate and timely content. Ensure consistency in branding, graphics, and messaging across the site. Conduct periodic reviews of the website to identify outdated or inaccurate information. Train designated staff in basic content updates when appropriate. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Minimum Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, Communications, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience). Demonstrated experience in website management and content updates (WordPress, Drupal, or similar CMS). Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web accessibility standards. Work Schedule & Compensation
Part-time: 10-20 hours per week (flexible schedule; may include occasional evening/weekend work for urgent updates). Remote work is available. Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
