Teamster priority period runs from March 1, 2022 - March 8, 2022 Assistant Gardener Facilities Management - Landcare Department Reports To: Landcare Maintenance Supervisor Overview: The assistant gardener is responsible for assisting with the care of grounds and gardens on the University of MN Twin Cities campus. Responsibilities: These may include but are not limited to: Planting annuals, perennials, shrubs, or trees. Maintaining beds, spreading mulch, weeding, pruning, fertilizing, and litter pickup. Mowing, aerating, edging turf, and preparing lawns for seeding or sodding. Performing irrigation maintenance and repairs, assisting with system start-up and blowouts. Pruning trees and shrubs, operating chippers. Installing stormwater management gardens (BMPs). Operating grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, skid steers, edgers, weed whips, and hand tools. Cleaning and organizing Landcare facilities. Other duties as assigned. This role may be designated as essential. The employer reserves the right to assign additional duties. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, and one year of experience or education in grounds maintenance or related field. Experience as a lead worker. Valid Driver's License. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs repeatedly. Essential Qualification:
Regular attendance. Preferred Qualifications: Valid MDA non-commercial pesticide license. Experience operating grounds maintenance equipment, including skid steers. Preferred Skills: Effective communication with supervisors. Ability to lead student workers. Pay and Benefits
Pay Range:
$23.18-$26.96/hr, depending on experience and qualifications. Position Details:
