Hoag Health System Job Responsibilities
The Outpatient Care Coordinator assists with scheduling tests and treatments, coordinating multiple appointments across departments and specialties. Responsibilities include insurance verification, pre-authorization assistance, and acting as a liaison between the pre-authorization team, physicians, and patients. The Care Coordinator updates patients and doctors on authorization status, manages delays or denials, and provides appointment itineraries. Additional duties include handling referrals, connecting families/patients to resources, and performing other assigned tasks. Support is provided through face-to-face, chat, texting, or video platforms, requiring proficiency in Consumer Health technologies and software. The role may also include Medical Assistant duties such as preparing charts, recording vital signs, rooming patients, assisting with procedures, and scheduling follow-ups to ensure efficient patient flow. Qualifications
Required: High School diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of healthcare experience in patient access or related fields Strong knowledge of hospital scheduling, registration, and insurance verification processes Preferred: 2-3 years hospital or outpatient care coordination experience Understanding of patient benefits, coverage, and claims Hospitality or concierge experience (preferred for Jamboree location) Medical Assistant experience (preferred for Prime location) Certifications: Current BLS Certification (required for Prime) Limited Phlebotomy and Medical Assistant Certifications (preferred for Prime) About Us
