Primary Function:

This role leads the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the site-wide Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs at our high-volume electronics manufacturing facility. The Safety Engineer ensures regulatory compliance, reduces occupational hazards, and drives a proactive safety culture through technical oversight, cross-functional collaboration, and data-informed risk mitigation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and manage comprehensive HSE programs aligned with OSHA, TCEQ, EPA, and internal policies. Conduct risk assessments and job safety analyses (JSAs) for operations involving high-voltage equipment, cleanrooms, SMT lines, chemical handling, and ESD-sensitive areas. Lead hazard mitigation initiatives including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, confined space safety, and arc flash protection. Enforce electrical safety practices in accordance with NFPA 70E and manage 1.5 MW system safety protocols. Direct emergency preparedness including evacuation procedures, fire drills, and continuity planning. Manage and issue Safe Work Permits (SWPs), oversee contractor safety during construction or retrofits. Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Collaborate with engineering, operations, and HR to provide targeted safety training for all personnel. Support regulatory reporting and compliance with TCEQ stormwater, air permits, and hazardous waste handling. Maintain safety metrics and inspection records, leading internal audits and supporting external regulatory and customer audits. Perform other duties as requested or assigned Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Required Experience

Minimum of 5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing or electronics assembly environment. Thorough knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910, NFPA standards, EPA, TCEQ compliance. Lockout/Tagout, chemical safety, machine safety, and automation safety experience required. Experience with ISO 45001 and RBA preferred. CSP or equivalent certification a plus.
