Engineering Manager - Solutions (Hybrid - San Diego, CA or Acton, MA)

We're looking for an Engineering Manager - Solutions to own the delivery of a complex, cross-team solution from concept to launch. This is a hybrid technical and leadership role: you will directly manage a small engineering team, define and uphold the technical vision, and coordinate execution across multiple internal and external teams.
You'll be the single point of accountability for ensuring the solution is technically sound, delivered on time, and aligned with strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
Work with architect to define and maintain the end-to-end architecture for the solution. Make informed technical trade-offs that balance quality, speed, and maintainability. Ensure technical alignment and interoperability across all contributing teams. Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architecture reviews when needed. Delivery Ownership
Work with product to break down the solution into clear deliverables, milestones, and timelines. Manage dependencies across multiple internal teams and external partners. Identify risks early and drive resolution before they become blockers. Track progress and report status to leadership and stakeholders. People Management
Directly manage a small team (2-6 engineers), including 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development. Foster a high-performance culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Partner with recruiting to hire top engineering talent. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product, Design, and other Engineering Managers/teams to ensure the solution meets user and business needs. Collaborate with external technical teams to ensure integration success. Represent the solution in roadmap and strategy discussions. Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or above in Computer Science or Computer Engineering 8+ years software development experience, preferably in healthcare or real-time data systems 5+ years leading software development teams 2+ years managing direct reports Proven track record in mobile app delivery Strong technical background in native/cross platform mobile development with cloud backend Proven experience delivering complex solutions across multiple teams Preferred Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of mobile platforms and development. Strong understanding of cloud architectural patterns and design. Experience building AWS solutions (e.g., CloudFormation, ECS, Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, KMS). Proficient in programming languages such as Java, TypeScript, or other scripting languages. Experience with document and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra). Experience with embedded web views and cross-app integrations. Knowledge of data mesh, streaming architectures, and ETL pipelines. Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. Experience with FDA and HIPAA regulations is a plus.

Additional Information: The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,050.00 - $244,575.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
