Description

McKinley Architecture and Engineering is seeking an experienced

Electrical Engineer (PE)

to join our team. As a full-time member of our engineering department, you will "hit the ground running" in a dynamic role, working directly with our engineering and architectural staff as well as clients. This position is an excellent fit for someone with strong technical skills, who can lead design processes to align with our firm's vision and standards.

MKA is a multi-discipline, full-service firm providing architectural, engineering, and construction administration services from offices in Wheeling, Charleston, and Martinsburg, WV, and Pittsburgh, PA. While educational, commercial/retail, industrial, governmental, and institutional building design has been the company's primary focus throughout its 40-year history, an expansion into sports design following the acquisition of renowned JTSA Sports in 2023 has created exciting new projects and opportunities for talented architects, engineers, and designers alike. In early 2025 MKA transacted with MCF Architecture, the longest-running architectural firm in Western PA. MCF has expansive qualifications in healthcare, higher education, performing arts, civic, liturgical, and commercial spaces. The merger elevates the combined company to nearly 100 employees, creating a regional powerhouse and one of the top architectural and engineering firms in the U.S.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Design building electrical systems including utility power, building distribution, lighting, low voltage data, fire alarm, access and security. This includes equipment selections, and authoring equipment and product specifications.

• Develop trade-related portions of overall project budgets, ensuring that project goals, design criteria, and schedule requirements are met.

• Adhere to the requirements of current building codes and industry standards, and staying up-to-date with revisions and changes as they are adopted.

• Assume responsible charge for the overall economic well-being of assigned project designs.

• Provide a high level of technical leadership, helping build the knowledge and competency of colleagues.

• Collaborate with diverse teams that include project managers, engineers, and architects to achieve a superior work product.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree with

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification

• 10+ years of experience designing building electrical systems including utility power, building distribution, lighting, low voltage data, fire alarm, access and security

• Depth of knowledge in NEC and all relevant IBBC codes, including life safety

• Exceptional design skills with a proficiency in Revit and other computer-aided design software

• Strong communicator that can speak design concepts to both client and colleague
