QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education preferred. Associate degree in early childhood or related field with infant/toddler coursework and a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience with infants and toddlers. Home Visitor CDA or EI Developmental Specialist Certificate or willingness to obtain Home Visitor CDA within one calendar year. Spanish bi-lingual skills preferred. Must have a clean driving record, driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance. Must be willing to comply with State of Ohio Administrative Code/Preschool licensing requirements.
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing home visiting as a direct service to families in their homes or community; Promote positive parent-child interactions and support families in their role as the child's first teacher.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Adhere to agency policies and procedures including Early Head Start Performance Standards and state regulations. Must be willing to travel to locations assigned. Assist with enrolling eligible families in the Early Head Start program. Plan 90-minute weekly home visits based on individual family goals and needs. Establish a home visit schedule that is consistent yet flexible when needed to meet unique child/family needs. Maintain confidentiality. Follow Head Start requirements for screenings, assessment, home visit notes, entering data in Child Plus in accordance with timelines. Use approved assessment tools to complete and maintain accurate ongoing assessment data for each child, entering collected data into TS Gold, in alignment with listed objectives in the opportunity plan. Analyze assessment data and accurately align each child's home visit goals to individual child assessment data, strengths, interests and needs. Maintain accurate mileage reports time sheets and follow the submission process for professional training hours. Facilitate weekly socialization to promote peer and parent interaction and school readiness. Implement chosen curriculum by partnering with parents to engage the child in individualized home visit opportunity plans that include developmentally appropriate activities for children ages birth to 3. Actively utilize goals of the curriculum by planning child-accessible learning for children birth-3, using developmentally appropriate strategies and accessible materials for families. Model engagement strategies and materials for family members that promote the adult's role as the child's first teacher. Provide information on community and agency services and refer families to services and resources in collaboration with the Family Service Worker. Support family's transitions from Early Head Start services into the Head Start program or other family selected preschool program starting at age 30 months. Attend and participate in monthly trainings, staff and team meetings. Follow procedures for referral to Help Me Grow. Support the work of and participate in case management with Help Me Grow service provider team. Assist in maintaining an inventory of parent resource materials and follow check-out procedures of resource materials. Performs other duties as assigned.
