The Department of Radiology & Medical Imaging at the University of Virginia is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator (varying levels) to participate as a key team member performing research work in support of a significant Department of Defense program led by Dr. James Stone, MD, PhD.
The Stone Lab studies repetitive low-level blast exposure in military service members over their career. The work directly informs how the military handles potential long-term risks associated with repetitive low-level blast exposure over a career. In addition, the work fills key knowledge gaps around neurological changes that may be associated with artillery blast exposure over a career.
The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will perform essential duties that directly support these research efforts. The incumbent will interact directly with military subjects in this study while engaging in work that includes intensive recruitment and testing activities, obtaining informed consent, enrolling subjects, and developing schedules. In addition, the CRC will collect and manage clinical trial data, and create follow-up subject surveys. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met and for maintaining the highest levels of quality possible for this high priority, DOD-funded work. This project requires expansive capabilities related to subject recruitment and preferably knowledge related to the recruitment of military subjects given the unique challenges posed by recruitment from these communities. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Clinical Research Coordinator 1, Non-Licensed Education: Bachelor's Degree Required or equivalent combination of experience, education and or certifications. Experience: None. Some experience in a healthcare setting and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Licensure: None.
Clinical Research Coordinator 2, Non-Licensed Education: Bachelor's Degree Required or equivalent combination of experience, education and or certifications. Experience: At least one year of clinical research experience. Some experience in a healthcare setting and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Licensure: None.
Clinical Research Coordinator 3, Non-Licensed Education: Bachelor's Degree Required or equivalent combination of experience, education and or certifications. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical research experience required. Master's degree may substitute for 1 year of clinical research experience. Licensure: Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and/or Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) is preferred at the time of hire and is required within one year.

Excellent interpersonal, oral, and verbal communication skills Excellent abilities in subject recruitment Ability to plan and execute tasks Strong organizational skills Ability to keep detailed records Ability to compile and analyze data and prepare reports PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
