General Definition of Work

The warehouse worker, under general supervision, performs skill-based work with minimal decision-making discretion related to day-to-day school nutrition warehouse operations including receiving shipments, stocking and picking items and supplies, and assisting in maintaining adequate stock levels and inventories. Employee performs district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor, School Nutrition.

Place of Work

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

Essential Functions

Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures Receive school nutrition warehouse materials including food and supplies; verify appropriate quantities are received and notify supervisor of any discrepancies Unload shipments with the use of a forklift or pallet jack Deliver and stow stock to the proper location within the warehouse Pick appropriate materials for shipment based on picking slips Prepare materials for delivery or shipment Assist in maintaining the school nutrition warehouse in a clean and orderly condition Participate in cycle counts and maintain inventory accuracy Operate various warehouse equipment including a forklift, electric power lift, hand drills, hand truck, and any other equipment needed to complete assigned tasks Perform related work as assigned or required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements Knowledge of county and school board policies, procedures, and standards Knowledge of general warehouse operations and best practices Knowledge of basic inventory material handling and procurement practices to support all incoming and outgoing movements of inventory Knowledge of organization practices Knowledge of basic math and data entry skills Skilled in communication, both verbal and written Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment Ability to respond appropriately to situations while maintaining a professional and personable demeanor Ability to use or learn specialized tools, equipment, or software Ability to take initiative and work independently Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED required Prior experience in food distribution, food service, or related experience preferred Equivalent combination of education and experience Special Requirements

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid forklift operators certification Possession of or ability to obtain Hazardous Materials Training certification Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings # of Jobs 1.00

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Work requires the exertion of force up to 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to 60 pounds Work requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, and performing manual tasks The worker is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions Physical ability to operate a variety of delivery and warehouse machinery and equipment Work is generally in a moderately noisy to loud environment. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to occasionally shout to be heard above the ambient noise level Work regularly requires the exchange of accurate and detailed information through verbal and written communication Ability to move to other work locations Requires the ability to interact with people beyond giving and receiving instructions
