Senior Estimator in Bridge and Highway Construction

Join MasTec Civil as a Senior Estimator and contribute to the growth of our infrastructure projects! This role is a remote/hybrid position based within North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of estimating experience, including at least 3 years of field experience in Heavy Civil Construction with a focus on roadway work. This includes expertise in earth movement, drainage, clearing and grubbing, grading, and other road construction components. Familiarity with different contract delivery methods and experience with NC/SCDOT, turnpike, and local municipality contracts is essential. Responsibilities: Review and analyze bid items, identify errors in plans and specifications, and provide solutions. Comprehend various bid documents and specifications thoroughly. Develop detailed estimates, including breakdowns of activity structures and risk matrices. Create job budgets for awarded contracts and implement cost-saving strategies. Perform precise quantity takeoffs within defined timelines. Assess and estimate complete jobs individually. Evaluate estimating reports such as equipment hours and labor productivity rates. Keep abreast of current NC/SCDOT Standards and Specifications. Lead estimating discussions with company executives and collaborate with the field team for ongoing cost adjustments. Foster relationships with suppliers and subcontractors for various scopes of work. Maintain updated knowledge of commodity pricing and construction technologies. Engage in continuous education and attend relevant industry events. Qualifications: 10+ years of experience in Heavy Civil, particularly in roadway, highway, or bridge projects. Preferred residence in North or South Carolina. B.S. degree in Engineering or Construction Management. Skills: High work ethic, integrity, and ethical standards. Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Expertise in bridge and roadway construction. Familiarity with local soil conditions and construction safety standards. Understanding of design-build and design-bid-build contracts. Capability to mentor and teach others. Software Proficiency: 30-Hour OSHA training. Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. P6 Primavera scheduling software. Heavy Bid from HCSS. Vista Accounting software. Bluebeam by REVU. AutoCAD - Civil 3D, MicroStation, AGTEK.
