Job Responsibilities The Academic and Career Advisor facilitates academic plan development, career advising, registration assistance, and academic strategy cultivation with an assigned caseload of newly admitted students, students in their first semester of enrollment, and continuing students aimed at student success, persistence, retention, progression, and completion. The position maintains thirty (30) hours of advising availability per week, participates in ongoing training provided by the Center and assigned academic department(s), facilitates early interventions, and regularly uses available technologies to ensure accurate and effective advising.

This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Bachelor's degree and experience in Student Services programs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of experience in student services programs/academic advising or an achieved master's degree. The preferred candidate will have direct academic advising experience in a community/technical college setting, including experience managing a caseload, leading student interventions, and leveraging technologies to document academic advisement and student support. The preferred candidate will possess the Global Career Development Facilitator certification or the ability to obtain this certification within the first six (6) months of hire.
