Job Responsibilities

Job Summary: This position serves as the Medical Director for the Fulton County Board of Health. As a member of the District Senior Leadership Team, this individual serves as a medical consultant across departments and disciplines. In addition, this position will serve as the medical director for the laboratory assuming responsibility for clinical laboratory improvement amendments (CLIA) and providing training, mentorship, and support to lab clinical staff. Provides and delivers comprehensive medical services by examining patients, diagnosing conditions, and providing appropriate treatments. This role directs and consults with physicians, nurses, aides, and other healthcare staff in the care and treatment of patients. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Renders medical services and provides consultation for the Fulton County Board of Health under the supervision of the Chief of Staff/Deputy District Health Director and the District Health Director. Serves as the delegating physician for registered nurses (RNs) and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) practicing under nurse protocols, and as the delegating physician for APRNs practicing under prescriptive authority. Serves as a consultant to programs including, but not limited to, the Emergency Preparedness and Epidemiology Office, while following all County and Board of Health protocols, policies, and procedures. Functions as the Laboratory Medical Director across all Fulton County Board of Health facilities for its high-complexity and moderate complexity laboratories. Provides leadership and clinical oversight, including direct patient care and consultative services. Supports capacity building by training and guiding clinical staff in public health principles, practices, and protocols, including areas such as vaccine-preventable diseases, travel vaccines, infectious diseases, health promotion, and public health strategies. Advises patients on health care matters, including health promotion, disease prevention, illness prevention, and accident prevention. Coordinates care with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other health care providers. Direct and coordinates the activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff. Examine patients, record medical histories, orders laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures, and consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health. Prescribe or administer treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury. Provides emergency medical care as needed. Refers patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when appropriate. Designs, coordinates, and oversee internal projects. Supervises, plans, and directs the work of assigned staff. Minimum Qualifications

Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) and licensure or license-eligible to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law and three (3) years of experience at the lower level Physician 3 (HCP162) or position equivalent Preferred Qualifications:
