CNA is a leading provider of professional liability insurance, and we are currently seeking a Senior Complex Claims Consultant to handle Private D&O, Fiduciary, and Employment Practice Liability (EPL) Claims. In this crucial role, you will work alongside insureds, attorneys, and brokers to manage mid to high severity claims. Your responsibilities will include investigating claims, coordinating discovery, and collaborating with defense counsel on litigation strategy. You will leverage claims policies and guidelines to review coverage, determine liability and damages, set financial reserves, secure information to negotiate and settle claims, and present claims to leadership as necessary. Success in this role will depend on your organizational skills, motivation, and effective communication. At CNA, we offer a hybrid work environment in one of the following locations: Chicago, Glastonbury, Lake Mary, Wyomissing, or the NYC area. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Manage a portfolio of highly complex Financial Lines claims with large exposures, ensuring each adheres to company protocols while verifying policy coverage and employing resolution strategies. Provide exceptional customer service by handling each claim professionally, efficiently achieving quality and cycle time standards, and responding promptly to inquiries. Establish and manage claim reserves by reviewing policy terms and collaborating with coverage counsel on complex issues. Lead investigations to determine compensability and liability by gathering documentation and conducting interviews with relevant parties. Collaborate with business partners to develop and execute claim resolution strategies, including managing reserves and negotiating settlements. Maintain claim budgets effectively by achieving timely resolutions and authorizing expense payments. Identify subrogation and salvage opportunities or potential fraud and refer them for additional investigation. Ensure quality standards by managing claims in compliance with company protocols. Report significant risks and losses to senior leadership through loss summaries and oversight lists. Maintain subject matter expertise in compliance with regulations and commercial insurance laws relevant to the line of business. Mentor and train junior Claim Professionals. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Thorough knowledge of the commercial insurance industry, including products, coverage, and claim practices. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly. Analytical mindset with excellent critical thinking and decision-making abilities. Proficient time management and organizational skills with a strong work ethic. Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. Proven ability to negotiate complex settlements. Experience with interpreting specialty insurance policies and coverage. Competence in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn business-related software. A willingness to value diverse ideas and opinions. Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; JD preferred. A minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience, ideally in claims handling. Salary Information: In specific jurisdictions, CNA is required to provide a salary estimate for this role. The national base pay range for this position is $72,000 to $141,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on factors such as experience, skills, certifications, and location.
