We are currently searching for an experienced
Senior Bridge Engineer
to support our
Mid Atlantic Region
located in
Springfield or Virginia Beach, VA .
To be considered for this position, applicants musthave, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
The ideal candidate will support the engineering team’s development of construction bid documents and assist with business development activities.
What you’ll be doing:
Perform/supervise calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures using various bridge design software programs
Perform/supervise load ratings on bridges of various type size and complexity
Review calculations and design details developed by others either on behalf of Volkert or our client
Attend meetings with clients and other professionals and organizations
Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client
Review shop drawings and other construction related submittals
Organize and maintain project files
Assist with marketing bridge and structure design work
What you need to have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Master of Engineering , but not required
Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in Virginia, or ability to obtain within 6 months
10+ years of engineering experience in bridge design
VDOT experience is strongly but not required
MicroStation experience
Technical expertise for the layout & design of bridges and related highway structures
Familiarity with rehabilitation of existing bridges and highway structures
Knowledge of AASHTO and other pertinent bridge design specifications
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role.
Valid driver’s license.
A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
