We are seeking a strategic and visionary fundraising leader to serve as our next Vice President of Philanthropy, advancing the Y as a “charity of choice” in our communities.
The Opportunity
As a senior member of the leadership team, the VP of Philanthropy drives the Y’s comprehensive fundraising strategy across annual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, endowment, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns. This role works hand-in-hand with the CEO, Board and Staff to cultivate a culture of philanthropy and to build strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and community leaders.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. 7+ years of professional fundraising experience with demonstrated success in major gifts and campaigns. Strong track record in growing annual fundraising and securing foundation/government grants. Skilled communicator with the ability to inspire donors, volunteers, and staff. Experience working with top community leaders and diverse constituencies. CFRE or YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred. CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment. Essential Functions
Lead the development and execution of the Y’s fundraising plan, growing annual contributions to $1MM+. Demonstrate success in closing major gifts ($50,000+) and leading or playing a senior role in a capital or comprehensive campaign. Partner with the CEO and Board Development Committee to expand donor engagement and volunteer leadership. Design and implement strategies for corporate partnerships, sponsorships, and foundation/government grants. Collaborate with marketing staff to tell the Y’s story and build the case for philanthropic support. Serve as a visible ambassador for the Y in the community and with regional/national partners. Supervise development staff and oversee departmental budgets and systems. Develop strategies to increase volunteer engagement at all levels of financial development.
